Trickle Up Shares Personal Journey in Email Campaign
To show its supporters how microenterprises work, Trickle Up shared the personal journey of a person who benefited from its program.
Trickle Up empowers people around the world living on less than $1.25 a day to take the first steps out of poverty, providing them with resources to build sustainable livelihoods. The organization partners with local agencies to provide training and seed capital to launch or expand microenterprises. A story was the best way to convey the multiple benefits of this empowering approach to fighting poverty.
Trickle Up empowers the world’s poorest people to develop their potential and strengthen their communities in a way that encourages innovation and leadership, maximizes resources and promotes communication and cooperation among all Trickle Up constituencies.
Trickle Up shared the story of Lilia Marina Tzi, a young woman from a remote village in Guatemala. The email from Trickle Up featured an inspirational photo of Lilia Marina, along with a quote that encapsulated her story. The body of the email went on to tell how joining the Trickle Up program helped Lilia Marina gain the skills, tools, confidence and support network she needed to open a small shop in her home. She was able to turn a weekly profit at the shop, which she used to buy the land that her home was built upon. She also planted a garden that provided fresh vegetables for her family to eat.
